The core single-player version of Worldseekers.io is reaching its true launch date. Our Android and iOS builds are published and ready for consumption (and reviews... please write reviews). PC is merely waiting for a few arrangements to be made with Steam before hitting "release."
So... what happens now that we've made Worldseekers so beautiful?
The "what's next" question is where things get a little complicated... I have hopes we can find funding and evolve the game to have PvP, multiplayer raid dungeons, Season 2, and more, but upon releasing a game, the future grows more uncertain:
We Get Funding: An investor or publisher reads our proposal deck on how we will take Worldseekers to the next level and gives us the tools to get there fast.
Players Subscribe in-game and Patreon: This is a slower road, we've already earned revenue from the "Ultimate Adventurer Pack" and Patreon. Sure, to fund continued development, it'll have to REALLY grow, but if that happens, we'll add regular updates at a similar pace to our current pre-launch speed.
Volunteer Contributions: If enough folks are open to help add more narrative, items, and cards to the game, I'd love to open up the project and let the players "have at it." Feel free to reply here if that seems fun!
Nothing crazy happens: Sadly, in game dev, this is the most likely outcome. So far the game has been earning enough to keep the lights on, but new updates would be extremely rare. You'd be able to play Season 1 cross-platform to your heart's content, and we've added challenges and channel3.gg leaderboards to keep that exciting.
Making Worldseekers has been quite the saga, and my biggest desire is to just say "Thank You." The people who've played, laughed at my dumb writing jokes, asked for more content, found bugs, pitched ideas, and more—you have kept me motivated through exhausting days and made this journey beyond worthwhile.
The future of this email might shift toward my other projects like hexapuzzlesaga.com or my novel writing like the-distributor.com. I wish I had infinite personal resources to pour into Worldseekers.io, but eventually all projects have to pay their own rent. Just know that I'm always looking for a reason to add more to Worldseekers and explore the vast realm of the Seekers with you if fate decrees it so.
Thanks again,
Jeff
